Declared a World Heritage Site, the French Way runs through our region from east to west, just before reaching Burgos.

The French Way passes through Atapuerca and Olmos de Atapuerca, where you will also find our rural houses.

If you are a pilgrim we can offer you different accommodation options and if you simply want to travel part of this historical route, the section between Villafranca Montes de Oca and Burgos is one of the most beautiful.

You will travel through the fabulous forests of the Montes de Oca until you reach the monastery of San Juan de Ortega (famous for its Romanesque apse, the tombs of the saint and the miracle of the equinoctial light), the town of Agés with its traditional architecture and rural heritage (rack, forge and oven) and Atapuerca with the possibility of visiting its sites, lagoons, fountains and the Church of San Martin.

In the section between Atapuerca and Burgos its famous Sierra is crossed between the holm oak and oak forest, with a wonderful view of the valley from the Pico river and the city in the background from Alto de Matagrande, where a large wooden cross welcomes pilgrims.

The views of the Sierra de la Demanda are spectacular and on clear days you can see the peaks of the Cantabrian Mountains in the distance.
